Free admission to the Vienna Technical Museum with a lottery ticket
Friday, April 14 is another Lotteries Day. This time, the focus is on “bionics” – the combination of biology and technology.
It’s widely known that flippers are modelled on the webbed feet of waterfowl, but the fact that the architecture of the Eiffel Tower was inspired by the structure of the femur is perhaps less well-known.
The research discipline of “bionics” – a combination of biology and technology – draws on nature’s ingenuity and transfers natural structures and mechanisms into technical innovations. This topic is the subject of the current “BioInspiration” exhibition of the Vienna Technical Museum.
Anyone who comes to the Vienna Technical Museum on Friday, April 14, between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm with an Austrian Lotteries ticket, such as a Lotto, Toto or EuroMillions ticket, or a break-open or scratch-off ticket, will receive free admission. Boasting over 200 objects, media installations and interactive stations, the exhibition takes visitors on an astonishing journey through the various fields of bionics application, from the era of antiquity to present-day research.
Guided tours of the “BioInspiration” exhibition will take place at 10:15 am and 1:30 pm, and there will be a high-voltage demonstration at 11:15 am, both with limited attendance.
Two tours with a social aspect, one for the Red Cross Learning House at Schwendermarkt and one for refugee women from Ukraine, are also offered.
