Information about accessibility

Our commitment
Digital accessibility is a high priority at Austrian Lotteries. We want all digital offerings to be fully accessible to everyone, regardless of physical, sensory or cognitive abilities. Our goal is the natural participation of all users.

WACA Certification – Bronze for Lotterien.at
The Lotterien.at website was awarded the Bronze WACA Certification by TÜV Austria in 2025. WACA stands for Web Accessibility Certificate Austria, an initiative in cooperation with TÜV Austria. With this award, the website is considered highly accessible and meets the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA.

The Bronze level specifically means:
• The basic functionality is available to all users without restriction.
• Most WCAG 2.2 AA success criteria are met.
• Some extended or optional content may be partially restricted, but this does not significantly affect normal use.

What does accessible mean on the web?
Accessibility encompasses four key principles:
• Perceptibility
Alternative text for images, sufficient colour contrast, subtitles for videos

Operability
Keyboard navigation, focus indicators, clear navigation

Comprehensibility
Clear language, structured content, meaningful headings

Robustness
Compatibility with screen readers, standards-based code

These principles ensure that people with visual impairments, motor impairments, hearing impairments, learning difficulties or other access needs can use our content without any problems.

Our implemented measures & features
• Alternative texts for images, graphics and icons for screen reader users
• Intuitive menu navigation, fully operable via keyboard
• Contrast and font sizes in accordance with WCAG AA requirements
• Clear page titles and heading structure for navigation and orientation
• Simpler form entry, clear error messages and instructions
• Focus indicators and visual highlights for keyboard control

Why is digital accessibility relevant to us?
Accessibility is not just a technical standard, but an expression of our social responsibility:
• It promotes equal opportunities, especially for around 1.7 million people with disabilities in Austria.
• It is part of our commitment to transparent information and inclusive accessibility.
• The WACA Bronze certification confirmed that our website is a step towards greater participation – and we want to continue moving forward.

Your feedback is important
Accessibility is an ongoing process – we want to keep improving for you. In terms of design, content and technology. That’s why we welcome your feedback:
• Is any content difficult to access?
• Are there any functions or information missing?
• Are there any technical obstacles?
