The Lotto year has been off to a mixed start
Picking the lucky six numbers has taken on many different forms in 2026
So far, the “6 out of 45” lottery has been quite mixed this year, at least when it comes to picking the six winning numbers. As we look at the three most pressing questions in lottery players’ minds, the answer is always the same: it’s all fine, and we’ve seen this all before.
First: should I get a Quick Pick, a standard ticket, or perhaps a system ticket? As we all know, all roads lead to Rome, and of the ten winning tickets recorded by the end of March, five were Quick Picks, four were standard tickets and one was a system ticket. Whether you go by your favourite numbers, your gut feeling or just let the computer decide – each approach is perfectly valid.
Second: is one pick enough, or would 20 be better? Of course, playing more picks increases the odds of winning. Still, a single pick was enough for one of the ten six-number combinations; for another, 20 Quick Picks were needed; the remaining eight winners fell somewhere in between.
Third: should I play my picks at the retail outlet or via win2day? It’s a matter of personal preference. What we do know is that three winning tickets were purchased via win2day (the Austrian Lotteries’ gaming site) and seven were purchased at a retail outlet.
There is one thing that all ten winning tickets have in common: they turned all the winners into millionaires, with prizes ranging from 1.2 million to 7.7 million euros.
