Practicing responsibility together: playsponsible.at is WACA-certified
The playsponsible.at player protection website has been awarded the Web Accessibility Certificate Austria (WACA) by TÜV Austria.
The www.playsponsible.at website fulfils two important tasks under our principle of “practicing responsibility together”: it provides an insight into the comprehensive and diverse social commitment of the Casinos Austria and Austrian Lotteries Group and, as a player protection website, offers detailed information and advice on player protection issues. It’s not least for this reason that the website was made freely accessible from the outset: the content must be fully usable by everyone, regardless of disabilities, comprehension, or method for accessing the content. The WACA Bronze certificate now officially confirms that the web content is highly accessible.
Seal of quality for accessible web design
This official certificate from the WACA initiative and the independent certification body TÜV Austria is intended for German and English-language websites throughout Europe. Accessibility on the Internet only works if guidelines for design and development are adhered to. It must be possible for websites to be perceived, operated, understood, and used robustly with assistive technologies. These requirements are defined in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) at three levels – A, AA, AAA. To be certified, the WCAG 2.2 AA Conformance Level criteria must be met.
The Bronze certificate received by playsponsible.at proves that the website is basically accessible and does not exclude anyone from using it:
• The website meets most of the WCAG 2.2 – AA criteria.
• The basic functionality is fully accessible to all users.
• Some advanced/optional features that are not essential to the use of the website are inaccessible to some users.
Removing barriers as a part of our social responsibility
For the Casinos Austria and Austrian Lotteries Group, operating in Austria for Austrians means not only responsible gaming but also initiating and supporting projects that remove barriers and value social engagement. Accessibility is not a one-off activity, but an ongoing process that the Group will continue to actively promote in the future.
