Lotteries Days, the popular Austrian Lotteries institution where lottery tickets, scratch cards and other games become admission tickets, invited visitors to the Kunsthaus Graz on Sunday.

What began at the Albertina in Vienna in the summer of 2010 has long since become a permanent fixture: on a specific date, Lottery Day offers free admission to a selected cultural or leisure venue or event to all visitors who present any lottery product as an admission ticket. Receipts from the lottery, EuroMillions and other games, as well as scratch-off tickets and lottery tickets, make it possible to easily visit highly attractive institutions in the fields of art and culture, nature and technology.

While Lotteries Days were initially limited to Vienna, the events now take place nationwide. This was also the case at the ‘mini anniversary’ on April 13, when the Kunsthaus Graz invited visitors to celebrate its 160th Lottery Day. Opened in 2003, the museum is a fixture in Styria’s cultural landscape, not only because of its striking architecture, but above all because of its diverse, contemporary programme. 474 Lotteries Day visitors – three quarters of the total number of visitors – were able to see this for themselves last Sunday.

A good cooperation with partners is crucial to the success of any Lotteries Day, as Andreja Hribernik, Director of Kunsthaus Graz, also confirmed: “It is a great pleasure for us that the 160th Lotteries Day took place at the Kunsthaus Graz. Austrian Lotteries has been a reliable partner of the Kunsthaus Graz for many years. Through its commitment to both contemporary art and social inclusion, it has enabled projects that would otherwise not be possible on this scale. We would like to express our sincere thanks for this and look forward to a successful partnership in the future.”
The implementation of inclusive measures has become an important part of the Lotteries Days in recent years. These include guided tours for blind and visually impaired people, for people with dementia, and tours in Austrian sign language.
As a successful institution, the Lotteries Days will not only be continued, but also, to the best of our ability, developed further in terms of themes and regions. Between the Burgenland and the Vorarlberg, visitors can look forward to numerous highlights this year, including cabaret, musicals and films. All relevant information will be continuously updated on lotterien.at.
