Austria Gala: Austrian Lotteries congratulates the 2023 winners
Yesterday evening, the great Austrian “Austria’23” award was presented for the twentieth time. The winners of the Austrian of the Year awards were selected by the readership of “Presse” and a jury of experts over the past few weeks.
This award presents very different top personalities from Austria and demonstrates the diversity of achievements in this country in the following categories: “International Success”, “Research”, “Humanitarian Commitment”, “Climate Initiative”, “Cultural Heritage” and “Companies Acting Responsibly”. As a partner from the very beginning, Austrian Lotteries congratulates all award winners on the occasion of the anniversary of this award and was once again permitted to present the trophy in the “Humanitarian Commitment” category.
This year, the award went to the “DoReMi” project by Omar Altayi, a social music school as well as an integration project. Omar Altayi’s aim is to get people to come together through music. He is a musician who runs “DoReMi”, where refugees and Austrians are taught in pairs and are only charged as much as the students are able to pay.
The “Humanitarian Commitment” category has a special feature, in that the other two finalists also received 10,000 euros for their project. The prize money is provided by all partners of Austria’23.
Erwin van Lambaart, Director General of Austrian Lotteries, had this to say: “Austrian Lotteries has been a sponsor of numerous institutions and projects in the humanitarian sector for decades and has been a partner of the Presse Austria Gala since the beginning. We’re happy to make a difference wherever we can, and we’re especially pleased to be able to support projects that help people when they’re down on their luck or in difficult situations.”
It is exactly when someone has experienced bad fortune that the Lotteries still want to be there for them. In line with the motto “Playsponsible – Practicing Responsibility Together”, Austrian Lotteries – as a long-standing and sustainable sponsoring partner in Austria – promotes equal opportunities and a respectful interaction with each other.
