The Sport Austria Finals turned Vienna into a major venue for the Austrian sports scene
As the presenting partner, Austrian Lotteries congratulates all athletes, organisers, and volunteers on this impressive sports event.
The Sport Austria Finals were launched with the aim of showcasing the diversity of the sports sector in Austria. This is exactly what was impressively on display at the four-day event that concluded on Sunday – across no fewer than 31 venues in and around Vienna. About 7,000 athletes competed in 46 sports disciplines, attracting widespread attention with no shortage of impressive performances and memorable moments – even in areas that do not usually receive much in the way of media coverage.
Once again, the Sport Austria Finals proved to be far more than a mere showcase of athletic achievements: they brought sports to the people and gave a significant boost to the areas of grassroots sports as well as youth sports.
Athletes with disabilities were also included in the programme, highlighting the importance of para-sports in Austria. Para-swimmer Andreas Ernhofer provided one such highlight, beating his previous personal best in the 100-metre backstroke and setting a new unofficial world record.
As Austria’s leading sports sponsor, Austrian Lotteries has been supporting the domestic sports scene for 40 years. The presenting partnership for the Sport Austria Finals underscores this commitment and serves as a mark of recognition for athletes as well as sports federations, and of course for the further development of sports in Austria.
