Matthias Stelzmüller is an “Athlete with a Heart”

Austrian Lotteries awarded 10,000 euros to the winning project, the Skate the World Foundation

At the Lotterien Sporthilfe Gala, arguably the largest and most important charity event for the Austrian sports sector, held at the Wiener Stadthalle on October 8, one of the prizes awarded was for an athlete with a particularly distinguished social commitment, i.e. an “Athlete with a Heart”.

This year, Matthias Stelzmüller received the award along with 10,000 euros in prize money provided by Austrian Lotteries for his project, the Skate the World Foundation. It’s an initiative that aims to create new opportunities for children and young people in disadvantaged regions through the sport of skating.

Stelzmüller has already travelled across over 70 countries on inline skates. His adventures led to the creation of the Skate the World Foundation, which combines sports, education and community, creating opportunities, joy and lasting change as well as opening up new perspectives for young people.
