Austrian Lotteries has been committed to both cultural and humanitarian causes for many years and, as a partner of the Grafenegg Festival, invites Lebenshilfe clients to the Patronage Concert in Grafenegg every year.

Austrian Lotteries has been the main sponsor of the Grafenegg Festival since it was founded in 2007. Since 2010, the reception and concert visit has provided people in assisted living facilities with an inclusive and memorable evening. This year, Austrian Lotteries once again invited 15 clients and eight carers from Lebenshilfe Lower Austria and Lebenshilfe Vorarlberg to a reception and a very special musical evening in Grafenegg.

Last Friday, guests of Austrian Lotteries once again experienced an extraordinary concert evening at the Grafenegg Festival. After Carl Maria von Weber’s overture to the “Der Freischütz” opera, Selina Ott played the solo part of Haydn’s famous Trumpet Concerto together with the virtuoso Budapest Festival Orchestra conducted by Iván Fischer. After an intermission, Iván Fischer raised the conductor’s baton for another true “classic” of classical music: Beethoven’s “Eroica”.

Erwin van Lambaart, Director General of Austrian Lotteries, said: “Austria is a country with an extremely rich musical tradition. The Grafenegg Festival has long been one of the leading institutions in the country when it comes to cultivating and preserving this tradition. We’re well aware of the unifying effect of music and how it can build bridges between people around the globe. Grafenegg is a place where great musicians come to perform year after year, drawing the whole world a little closer together. It’s wonderful that so many different people can come together in this way and have a good time.”

Rudolf Buchbinder, Artistic Director of the Grafenegg Festival: “Austrian Lotteries has brought us good luck ever since the Grafenegg Festival was founded and, as the main sponsor, makes it possible to arrange a multi-faceted programme that radiates far beyond our country’s borders. One thing that touches me anew every year is the social commitment that makes it possible for many people who otherwise would not have such an opportunity to enjoy a wonderful concert evening. Here’s to many more years together!”
