A quarter million euros for players from Styria

A total of 9 top prizes for break-open and scratch-off tickets over 2022

There was no shortage of happy faces all over Austria on Christmas Eve, but it was a player from the Burgenland region in particular who was absolutely beaming with joy: the eleven stars on his Advent calendar scratch-off ticket had won him exactly 100,000 euros.

With the distribution of countless instant prizes, Austrian Lotteries’ retail outlets brought a little or a lot of joy to lottery players over the past year. Nine times, winners had to be referred to Austrian Lotteries instead of receiving an instant payout, but the result was well worth the wait: they had each won the grand prize, a six-figure sum.

These nine main prize winners – six for the scratch-off tickets and three for the break-open tickets – were spread over six of Austria’s federal states. The top winner was a player from Styria, who walked away with a prize of 250,000 euros. Two other players from Styria, two from Lower Austria, the player from Burgenland mentioned at the beginning, as well as one scratch-off ticket and one break-open ticket fan each from Vienna, Upper Austria and Tyrol respectively rejoiced over their 100,000 euro-prizes.
