For the Third Time, a Nine-Figure Prize Goes to Austria
Austria has a new EuroMillions jackpot winner and, with that, a new multi-millionaire. After nine consecutive draws without a winner, the EuroMillions jackpot was hit on Friday, 11 September.
The jackpot had climbed to more than EUR 111 million, and the winning ticket was purchased in Salzburg. Three lines were played on a standard play slip, although that was not actually necessary, as the very first line contained the winning combination of 5 numbers plus 2 Lucky Stars.
What was essential, however, was that the play slip had been entered for two consecutive draws, as the winning combination only appeared in the second draw.
The prize amounts to exactly EUR 111,516,282, making it the third nine-figure lottery win ever achieved in Austria and the third-highest win in the 40-year history of Austrian Lotteries.

This marks Austria’s first EuroMillions jackpot win in around one and a half years. The previous jackpot win came in March 2025, when a win2day player won the Austrian record prize of EUR 250 million.
Second place in Austria’s ranking of highest lottery wins belongs to a win2day player who won exactly EUR 240 million in December 2023.
This was the 20th time that the EuroMillions jackpot has been won in Austria.
Perhaps the most remarkable EuroMillions draw took place in August 2023, when 38 players jointly won the EUR 72 million jackpot with a shared ticket. Depending on the number of shares held, the winners received between EUR 1.15 million and EUR 5.73 million each.
As a result, Austria gained 38 millionaires in a single draw.
In addition to these “38 millionaires at one stroke”, a further 44 Austrians have won prizes worth at least EUR 1 million through EuroMillions, either by matching 5 numbers plus 2 Lucky Stars or 5 numbers plus 1 Lucky Star. This means that EuroMillions has already created 82 millionaires in Austria.
From an international perspective, there have already been 78 prizes of EUR 100 million or more, with the latest Salzburg win ranking 64th on that list.
