Austria’s number one sports betting provider sells its products exclusively on the domestic market. Participating in the games is possible for persons aged 18 and over.
Since the first bets were placed on a betting slip on 24 August 2001, tipp3 has practically become a synonym for the sports betting in Austria. The brand tipp3 is operated by the Österreichische Sportwettengesellschaft m.b.H. (ÖSW), which was founded in April 2000 and is a subsidiary of Entertainment Glücks- und Unterhaltungsspiel GmbH, Mediaprint Zeitungs- und Zeitschriften GmbH & Co KG (an Austrian newspaper and magazine publishing company) and the Bundesländerverlage Beteiligungs GmbH. Casinos Austria AG and Österreichische Lotterien Gesellschaft m.b.H. (Austrian Lotteries) each hold 50 per cent of the shares in Entertainment Glücks-und Unterhaltungsspiel GmbH.
Every year, about 6.3 million tipp3 bets are placed at more than 3,300 retail outlets throughout Austria as well as via the Internet portal www.tipp3.at. Since 2009, tipp3 has also been offering skill games like Sixty-Six, Backgammon or Rummy on the Internet. The entire range of betting products was relaunched in 2011. As a result, even more gaming opportunities have been available for beginners and experts, including live bets, since February 2012.
The products of tipp3 are exclusively sold on the domestic market. tipp3 holds all nine Provincial Licences for the operation of sports betting. Participating in tipp3 games is thus only possible in Austria and only for persons aged 18 and over. Thereby, the entire value-creation chain remains in Austria.
By introducing the brand Better Game Solutions (BGS), ÖSW will enter new territory on the sports betting market. BGS is not only a solution provider for sports betting products within the Casinos Austria and Austrian Lotteries Group, but at the same time acts as a provider of modern, failure-resistant systems and comprehensive consultancy regarding the handling and management of games and betting in the B2B segment.
